Who We Are: Harnett County Child Care Resource & Referral is an early childhood program, operating under the umbrella of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Harnett County Center and Harnett County Government. Offering a unique blend of direct services, Harnett County Child Care Resource & Referral helps families and communities in the area of child care and children's issues.
Mission Statement: To improve the quality and availability of child care through services to families, technical assistance and training to child care providers, working with community organizations which serve children and families, the involvement of business and industry in child care issues, and the education of community, with an emphasis to parents and other relevant groups, on those issues important to promoting better child care and quality of life for our children and families.
What We Do: HCCCR&R Provides:
- Family support that includes unbiased referrals to child care facilities in Harnett County, including but not limited to the towns or cities of Angier, Buies Creek, Bunnlevel, Cameron, Coats, Dunn, Erwin, Fuquay-Varina, Kipling, Lillington, Mamers, Olivia, Sanford, and Spring Lake. Child care referrals are made to care for two providers, preschools, child care centers, family child care homes, before school, and after school programs. We make referrals to both unlicensed and licensed providers who choose to list with our program.
- Education to families on quality child care.
- Information to families about services such as child care subsidy, health insurance for children, resources for special needs, and information on local and state agencies associated with children's issues.
- Information and technical assistance to those interested in opening child care centers and family child care homes.
- Support to providers to operate more efficiently by offering training, technical assistance, and information on professional development, TEACH and WAGE$. The quarterly newsletter, 5-county regional training calendar, and the schedule and Registration Information for CPR/First Aid trainings are available at www.harnett.org/coop. Persons with disabilities and persons with limited English proficiency may request accommodations to participate in trainings by contacting HC CCR&R at least 10 days prior to the training.
- Resource Library with resource check out services available to child care providers if approval received by center directors. Resources include books, theme related teaching tubs, CDs, DVDs, etc. For a fee (rates are available upon request), a Die-Cut machine and lamination services are also available. We welcome you to come use our library, but request that you call before coming to be sure someone will be available to help you.
- Collaboration with local and state agencies to serve children and families of Harnett County.
