Q	What are the hours of operation?
A	Our office is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Hours of operation for a Marriage License is 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Q	Where is the Register of Deeds Office located?
A	The physical address is 305 W Cornelius Harnett Blvd., Ste. 200, Lillington, North Carolina 27546. The office is located in the building behind the Harnett County Courthouse. We are on the 2nd floor, upstairs from the Tax Department. Please use the elevator or the stairs to reach our office.
Q	How long does it take to record documents?
A	The office records documents on a first come, first served basis. You can expect to have your documents recorded within 15 minutes of presentation. After recording, our office will give the original documents back at that time.
Q	How do you search for a map online?
A	Go to the search page on the Register of Deeds website. If you have a map book and page, enter those numbers in the corresponding fields on the search page. If the book is 1-23, go to the Pre-94 search. Enter that number in the book field. Next, enter the page in the page field and hit search. If the map is a Plat Cabinet, enter PC#___ in the book field. The slide number will be entered in the page field with no space or dash between the number and the letter. Example: For Plat Cabinet C, Slide 123-B enter PC#C in the book field and 123B in the page field. Any map before Plat Cabinet F, Slide 322B will be in the Pre-94 search. Anything after Plat Cabinet F, Slide 322B will be in the current search. In the current search screen, key in PC#F the same way you would enter it in the Pre-94 search. After PC#F, Map Book 98 starts. Enter 98 in the book field and the slide in the page field. This is how all maps are recorded since 1998.

Q	How long does it take to obtain a marriage license?
A	Time to obtain a marriage license should take no more than 30 minutes. If the online application is completed prior to arrival, it could save up to 15 minutes.
Q	Where can a marriage license be used?
A	Marriage licenses obtained from our office can be used anywhere in the State of North Carolina and only in the State of North Carolina. Licenses obtained from Harnett County must be returned to Harnett County.
