2008 General Election Notice NOTICE OF NOVEMBER 4, 2008 GENERAL ELECTION
FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY, AND NON-PARTISAN OFFICES
The general election for federal, state, county and non-partisan offices will be held on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2008. Polls will open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. Canvass of the vote shall be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 14, 2008.

Voters who are already registered to vote need not re-register. Residents who are not registered to vote must register in person by 5:00 p.m. on October 10, 2008 or if mailed, the registration must be postmarked by October 10, 2008. A person may register to vote at the board of elections office at 817 S. 8th Street, Lillington, NC between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.
Absentee ballots will be sent out as soon as possible according to law and must be received by the Board of Elections no later than November 3, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. Requests for absentee ballots must be received by 5:00 p.m. on October 28, 2008. The Board of Elections shall hold absentee meetings at 5:00 p.m. on October 14, 2008, October 21, 2008, October 28, 2008 and at 2:00 p.m. on November 4, 2008.
ONE-STOP ABSENTEE VOTING WILL BEGIN at Harnett County Board of Elections, 817 S. 8th Street, Lillington, NC Weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from October 16, 2008 to October 31, 2008.
