Harnett County Public Utilities has a Distribution Technician I position (PUU 16-01) available to perform manual labor work in the installation, activation and deactivation of water services. Work involves installing taps to water and sewer systems and making field repairs to water and sewer mains. Work also involves maintenance and repair of sewer stations and associated equipment. This position is being re-opened.

Minimum Requirements: Graduation from high school, and 1 to 2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, construction or related work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Class A commercial driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina. Certification as a Class "C" Water Distribution Operator or a Grade I Collection Systems Operator by the State of North Carolina. This position requires drug and alcohol testing.

Starting Salary Range: $21,113, plus benefits.
