Join us for a free community health event focusing on child safety and learn more about multiple county wide organizations available for your family. The fair will take place on Friday, April 20th from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Harnett County Health Department located at 307 W Cornelius Harnett Blvd in Lillington. The fair will feature car seat safety checks, vaccines, food, games, activities, community resources, door prizes and more!
Join us on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 8:30am-1:00pm as we celebrate 30 year of Girls Are Great! Bring your mom or guardian to a session that will provide information on the physical and emotional changes that take place with girls during puberty. Teens will get answers and information about topics including teen health, healthy dating/relationships, and more! The event will be located at the Harnett Health Sciences Center at 51 Red Mulberry Way in Lillington (behind Central Harnett Hospital). The fee is $7 per person. Join us at the "Special Delivery"-Pregnancy Health Fair on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the Government Complex, Commons Area. The pregnancy health fair will provide information about the many services and programs available at the Health Department for new parents, expectant parents, and those who are planning a family. View the exhibits; meet our Providers get information on Breastfeeding, Car seat safety, WIC, Safe Sleep, Postpartum and more. Future parents can learn more about successful pregnancy planning, what to expect during pregnancy, and what to expect once baby arrives. This is a free event, however registration is required. In recognition of National High Blood Pressure Education Month in May, Harnett County Department of Public Health will sponsor the “Don’t Miss a Beat: Control High Blood Pressure” lunch and learn. This program will take place on Wednesday, May 30th from 12:00pm-1:00pm at the Governmental Complex Commons Area located at 309 W Cornelius Harnett Blvd in Lillington. An informative presentation will be provided by Dr. Ashley Lewis with North Carolina Heart and Vascular on how to control high blood pressure. This is a free program however registration is required. Mammography screening remains the best available method to detect breast cancer early. A mammogram is an X-ray picture of the breast and is the most effective way to detect breast cancer early. The Health Department provides access to mobile mammography screenings in partnership with Rex Mobile Mammography. *For women who are uninsured and need a mammogram funding assistance is available for those who meet specific criteria.
