Flu Vaccine for Children

Harnett County Health Department is now providing state supplied flu vaccine for children. In order to receive state supplied flu vaccine, children must meet one of the following criteria:

  • All children 6 months through 59 months of age;
  • All high-risk children 6 months through 18 years of age;
  • Any child (6 months through 18 years of age) that is a household contact of:
    • Any child aged 0 through 59 months or
    • Any high-risk child or adult.

The ACIP recommends that children 6 months through 8 years of age, who have not been previously vaccinated with influenza vaccine, should receive two doses of vaccine, 30 days apart.
