Food, Lodging and Institution Program Info The food, lodging and institution program involves the permitting and inspecting the following types of establishments: restaurants and food stands, mobile food units and pushcarts, temporary food service establishments, limited food service establishments, school cafeterias, nursing home cafeterias, meat markets, and elderly nutrition sites.
These facilities are regulated under 15A NCAC 18A .2600 "Rules Governing the Sanitation of Food Service Establishments."
Our staff also permits and inspects tattoo artists, public swimming pools, summer camps, hotels, motels and bed and breakfast homes and inns.
There are several other types of establishments that this section of Environmental Health is responsible for regulating. These include child care centers, school buildings, nursing homes and rest homes, residential cares and local confinement facilities.
