The Friends of the Library is the wonderful group of volunteers who raise funds for special library purchases and projects.
The Friends sponsor many activities. Some of the Friends' activities are:
- Sponsoring Used Book Sales.
- Used books are always available for sale in the library lobby.
- A larger selection is available at the monthly used book sale which is held on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9am until 4pm at the corner of Front Street and 8th Street in Lillington.
- The items available include used books, movies and various other items that have been withdrawn from the library plus new and used books donated by local residents.
- Proceeds from these sales are returned to the library by supporting various programs, such as the children’s reading programs and purchasing furniture for the children’s section of the new branch library in western Harnett County
- Sale of historical new titles.
- Sale of bookbags for adults and children.
Children's bags $5.00
Adult bags $10.00 New Books - Hosting local history tours of some of the historic areas around the county.
- Supporting author visits.
- Holding special events like the Sunday Concert Series
If you would like to join the Friends of the Harnett County Public Library, you can pick up a membership application at the library. The dues are Individual 5.00 per year, Family 10.00 per year, Bronze Patron 25.00 per year, Silver Patron 50.00 per year and Gold Patron 100.00 per year. Meetings are held in the library Meeting Room on the 1st Tuesday every other month-- January, March, May, July, September, November at 2:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
