One of the goals of the Harnett County Public Library is to help make children ready for school. We try to accomplish this by bringing story hours and books and other materials to day care centers when children cannot come to the library.

If your day care center would like a monthly story hour program and a deposit book collection please call 893-3446 and ask for the Children's Outreach Librarian.

The library also has concept kits to lend to day care centers, homeschoolers, moms and dads and others to teach children ideas. These kits come with a variety of manipulatives, books, audios, videos,  flannelboard stories, whatever it takes to teach a concept!

They are listed in the library's online catalog.

Homebound Services

Our outreach staff also works to provide library services to people who are not able to visit the library or who may need special materials and services. The Outreach staff visits homebound patrons and  residents of convalescent homes in the community and provides library materials to folks who cannot get to the library.
