from NetLibrary

Now, through NC LIVE, you can download audiobooks to your computer or digital audio device for playback at your convenience. Listen to unabridged versions of best-sellers, book club favorites, award-winning authors, and Pimsleur language study courses from our collection of nearly 1500 audio books.

Step 1: Create a free NetLibrary account. We suggest you use your library card number for your user ID and PIN for password.

Go to http://www.nclive.org . Note: If you are at home you will need your library card and PIN and you will need to login via the library’s opac.  Online Catalog will appear in another window - you may need to disable your pop-up blocker.  [Instructions]

Once in NCLIVE -

Select "Browse Resources" --> E-books & Audiobooks

Click on "NetLibrary"

To create an account you will need the following:

Name, email address, and password

Step 2: At your own computer login to your account. Search for titles by category, keyword, title, author, or narrator. From search results click on Download this Audiobook and you will be prompted to open it or save it to your desktop. It is recommended that you save it to your desktop.

Select a download option: CD quality is for use with high-speed Internet access or transfer to your MP3 player. Radio quality provides faster download speed for users with dial-up connections.

 

Requirements for download to personal computer:

An up to date Internet Browser

Windows Media Player version 9 or above

Requirements for portable devices

MP3 player or a digital audio device that supports playback of secure or protected wma files.

For an optimal listening experience, the portable

device should:

• have a storage capacity of at least 512 MB

• support features—such as full time stamping and bookmarking—for playing long files and returning to a designated place in a file

You cannot listen to Audiobooks on an iPod or other portable device that does not support playback of secure or protected wma files.
