Government Complex Park (Proposed)

The Government Complex Park is a proposed Harnett County park to be built within the limits of the Town of Lillington, off of McKinney Parkway, near the Sandhills Farm Park. The site is adjacent to the Cape Fear River and is located in the Cape Fear River Basin. The master plan of the finalized park project includes an amphitheater, fairgrounds building, and a farmer's market.

UPDATE September of 2016: Harnett County Parks and Recreation will receive a $400,000 PARTF (Parks and Recreation Trust Fund) Grant, which will be matched by County government, for the completion of Phase One of this park project. We anticipate breaking ground on the Government Complex Park in 2017! Stay tuned for more updates!

Government Complex Phase One Plan

Phase One Construction will include the entrance road to the initial parking area along with associated utilities. In addition to road construction, this phase will include:

  • Parking Area (83 Spaces)
  • 1/4 Mile Paved Walking Trail
  • 846 LF of Trail to the Fishing Pier
  • Wildlife Obsevation Deck
  • Soccer Field
  • Ballfields/Multi-Purpose Fields
  • Canoe Portage
  • Elevated Boardwalk

Future phases will incorporate the following park elements:

  • Multi-Use Event Buildings and Parking (191 Spaces)
  • Playground
  • Day Use Area for Small Games
  • Parking at Soccer Fields (142 Spaces)
  • Amphitheater
  • Small Park Shelters
  • Restroom/Concession at Soccer Fields
  • Additional Parking Areas
  • Additional Multi-Use/Soccer Fields
  • Baseball/Softball Fields
  • Lighting
  • Extended Paved Walking Trails
  • Greenway Trail (Off Property)
  • Signage
  • Canoe Portage Area
  • Remaining Recreational Features
