Planning Department:
Planning regulates and enforces the following ordinances for Harnett County: Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, Communication Tower Ordinance, Manufactured Home Park Ordinance, Historic Preservation Ordinance, Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance, and Watershed Management & Protection Ordinance
Central Permitting Department:
Central Permitting provides initial permitting services for Building Inspections, Planning, Environmental Health, Fire Marshal and Public Utilities Departments.
Services include:
- Processing of land use permits, building and trade permits, and manufactured home setup/final inspection
- Accepting applications for soil analysis, septic tank permits, water tap, water meter, sewer tap, sprinkler tap
- Facilitating plan review processes for Building Inspections, Environmental Health and Fire Marshal's Office
- Collection of fees for permits
Building Inspections:
Building Inspections provides plan review for residential, commercial and industrial projects and enforces the North Carolina State Building Codes as adopted by the Building Code Council through the engineering division of the NC Department of Insurance. All building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and manufactured housing and modular units are scheduled and inspected by this department.
