The Harnett County Arts Council will hold a workshop for anyone interested in applying for a Grassroots Arts Program Subgrant for the upcoming fiscal year. The workshop will be held this Wednesday, June 21 at 6 p.m. in the Harnett County Public Library at 601 South Main Street, Lillington. The purpose of the workshop is to assist potential applicants with filling out the subgrant application. Applicants are encouraged to attend.
The deadline to apply for a Grassroots Arts Program Subgrant has been extended until June 30, 2017. The subgrants are provided by the North Carolina Arts Council to organizations in Harnett County through the Harnett County Arts Council. In 2016-17, Harnett County received more than $36,000 in grant funding which funded arts programming across Harnett County in the form of plays, concerts, school programs, festivals and more.
Grassroots Arts Program funds may be used for expenditures to conduct quality arts programs or operate an arts organization. Grant amounts start at $500 and may be used for program expenses such as professional artists’ fees and travel, space rental, advertising, marketing and publicity, website and electronic media, scripts, costumes, sets, props, music and equipment rental, as well as operating expenses for qualified art organizations not already receiving operating support from the N.C. Arts Council.
Eligible organizations must have been in operation for at least a year. Nonprofit 501(c)3 status is preferred. Organizations must operate and carry out projects within Harnett County and projects must take place between July 1, 2017, and June 30, 2018.
