18th Annual North Carolina Cotton Festival

The 18th Annual NC Cotton Festival will be from 10 am until 4 pm in downtown Dunn on Saturday, November 5th, 2016. The event covers over 16 city blocks including the Dunn Shriners’ Car Show, Kiddie Land, 2 stages of entertainment, a Food Court and over 150 vendors of crafts, novelty items, and informational booths.

Pajamas, Pancakes and Puberty

Make plans to join us for Breakfast! Girls Ages 9-11 (Bring your Mom/Guardian) to a session that will provide information on the special physical and emotional changes that take place with girls during puberty. The “Pajamas, Pancakes and Puberty” breakfast will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016, this is an educational event that provides information and discussion on easing the transition from childhood to pre-adolescence. 10th Annual Christmas Gala presented by Jernigan's

The Gala will be held on Friday, November 11 from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at The Regency Center in Dunn. Featuring Silent Auction, A Taste of Dunn Raffle, and Entertainment by DJ Butch Halpin. Tickets available - $50 per individual or $75 per couple.

Coats Annual Farmer's Day and Wagon Train

Perhaps the oldest farmers’ day in the region, the Annual Coats Farmers’ Day is held every fall in the heart of the town. While the attractions have changed since the early days—events used to consist of competitions in field crops, garden products, and canning—the Annual Coats Farmers’ Day now includes a golf tournament, a tractor show, live music, a kids’ park, assorted competitions and races, an antique-car show, military displays, a pig cook-off, judged crafts and baked goods, and street dance. Soldiers Through History & World War II Live

The Averasboro Battlefield Commission along with the VCMHA will host its annual living history event Saturday, November 19 from 9a.m. to 5p.m. The event will indlucing static displays and demonstrations from the American Revolution, Civil War, World War I, World War II, Vietnam, and the Cold War throughout Desert Storm. Admission is $5 per person with all proceeds going towards projects at the Battlefield.

Maintain Don't Gain, Holiday Challenge Program

The holiday season is a time to celebrate with family and friends. Unfortunately, for many it also becomes a time for over-eating and weight gain. To help residents avoid holiday weight gain, Harnett County Health Department will offer the Holiday Challenge Program. The Holiday Challenge is a free six week program. The class will meet on Tuesdays beginning November 22nd at the Harnett County Library located at 601 S Main St Lillington. The last class will take place on Tuesday, January 3rd. The program includes weekly nutrition sessions, weight checks, and a weekly newsletter full of tips to manage holiday stress, ideas for fitting in physical activity, and resources for cooking quick and easy meals when time is in short supply. Participants that maintain their weight through the holidays will be entered into a drawing for prizes.

Dunn will hold its annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 3 at 2p.pm along Broad Street.The parade will run down Broad Street from General Lee Avenue to City Hall at Magnolia Avenue, in Downtown Dunn. The 2016 Grand Marshall's will be a Salute to our First Responders.
