TRACK Trail Adventure at Raven Rock

Saturday, September 24 at 10a.m. and 2p.m. follow Kip and Track on a .5 mile hike as we learn about trees, find things hiding in nature, and learn how different animals move while doing animal exercises along the trail. Every Thursday at 9 a.m. Get outside, get healthy and get moving. Participants, ages 12 and up, should be able to hike 3 to 6 miles on trails that can be flat, hilly and include steps. Please note that we can make adjustments in the route if you want to hike less than three miles. We do stop to observe wildlife, enjoy environmental education moments and to listen to our natural world. Call the visitor center for meeting location (910) 893-4888 extension 0. Animal Tracks and Signs at Raven Rock

At 6p.m. on Friday, September 30 join a park ranger to discover some of the clues to finding animals in the park on this one-hour classroom program and short hike (0.2 mile). Participants can make plaster casts of silicone track molds to take home. Meet at the Visitor Center.

Sandhills Antique Farm Equipment Show

On Saturday, October 1 from 8a.m. until dark the Sandhills Antique Farm Equipment Club will be hosting thier annual Swap Meet at Sandhills Farm Park, located at 200 Alexander Drive, Lillington, NC 27546. Erwin Denim Days

Erwin will be hosting the 52nd Annual Denim Days on Saturday, October 1. Denim Days brings the entire community together to commemorate its prestigious past with concerts, performances and a parade. Local and outside vendors showcase crafts and foods. Contests and pageants feature area talent and accomplishments from the “Baby Denim Contest” to collectable cars and vintage automobile displays. North Carolina Grape Stomp at Gregory Vineyards

The North Carolina Grape Stomp at Gregory Vineyards is Sunday, October 2nd from 1­ - 6 pm. There is a $5.00 entry fee. State Employees Credit Union Customer Appreciation Day

Senior Fun and Fitness Day

On Tuesday, Oct. 4 at Al Woodall Municipal Park in Erwin, Harnett County Parks and Recreation is partnering with other groups including the Harnett County Division on Aging to host a Senior Fun & Fitness Day for residents age 50 and above. Come out from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. to learn some new games, discover easy ways to stay active, learn more about the Senior Games and have a great time. Concert Benefit: "One Homeless Night"

United Way of Harnett County will be hosting a benefit concert "One Homeless Night" at Stewart Theatre in Downtown Dunn featuring Strength Betrayed, Carolina Tradition, Homeless Boys, and Thomas and Madeline on Friday, October 14th starting at 6:00 p.m. This is a night to bring awareness to the homeless and mentally ill in Harnett County. Donations appreciated.

3rd annual Wings Over Harnett Fly-in, presented by Campbell University

The third annual Wings Over Harnett fly-in will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at Harnett Regional Jetport at 615 Airport Road, Erwin, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. with gates opening at 9 a.m. This year's event is presented by Campbell University. This year's FREE event will feature a salute to first responders in Harnett County along with a jump by the All Veteran Group Parachute Team, a water drop demonstration from N.C. Forestry, plenty of airplanes on display, helicopter rides, music, food, entertainment, rides and activities for the kids, and so much more! While the event is free, there will be a $5 cost for parking.

Fonnie Godwin's Laps for Life

On Saturday, October 15 at 9a.m. Fonnie Godwin's Laps for Life will be held at Tart Park in Dunn. The goal of this event is to give hope and celebrate life through touching patients and treating them with support financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Registration begins at 8:30am and the registration fee is $25. All proceeds will go directly to Friends Fighting Cancer, Inc.

To Make A Child Smile Fall BBQ Fundraiser

To Make A Child Smile will be having their Fall BBQ Chicken Plate Fundraiser on Friday, October 21st at the Angier Depot. Lunch will be from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and dinner from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Ticket cost is $8.00. Pokemon Costume Contest

There will be a Pokemon costume contest to benefit Toys for Tots on Saturday, October 22nd from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The entry fee is one, new, unwrapped toy. The event is open to all ages, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Contest registration is from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., voting will be from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., and the winner will be announced at 7:00 p.m. First place prize is $500.00, 2nd place prize is $250.00, and 3rd place prize is $100.00 Registration will be at Good Times Cafe located at 16 North Broad Street, Angier. Barge Thru the Creek 5k

The first "Barge Thru the Creek 5k" will be held on Saturday, October 22nd, at 9am. This Homecoming event is open to alumni, students, faculty, staff, and the public. This 5K race which highlights the beautiful Campbell University campus will start at the Aquatic Center on Bolton Road and finish on the Campbell University track. The entry fee is $30 for the public. Campbell University students may register for free; University staff and faculty members pay just $15. Smoking Cessation Classes: Tuesday, October 25 - November 29, 2016

Smoking increases the risk for serious health problems. People who stop smoking greatly reduce their risk for disease and early death. You are never too old to quit! FASFA Day

The Central Carolina Community College Office of Financial Aid will be available to assist all prospective students who will be entering college in the 2017-2018 school year in completing and submitting the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on FAFSA Day. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Lee County Campus Science Building’s Academic Assistance Center. The FAFSA Day event is open to the general public. Power of Pink Conference

The Harnett County Health Department will be hosting the Power of Pink Conference in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Saturday, October 29 from 9a.m. to 12:30p.m. The Power of Pink Conference is an educational conference featuring workshops, exhibits, and information regarding your health, survivor support groups, resources, and more! The keynote speaker will be Dr. Harriet Enzor with Campbell University School of Education. This event will allow the Harnett County Health Department to spread awareness of breast cancer and mammography. This is a free event, however registration is required. Registration Deadline: October 21st.
