ERWIN – A driver license office in Harnett County is closed today after fire officials determined the office building, which sustained damage over the weekend, is structurally unsafe.
The Erwin Driver License Office at 125 W. Jackson Blvd. will remain be closed until further notice.
DMV staff discovered the damage when they arrived at work this morning. A fire marshal determined the foundation of the building separated from the main wall, leaving the building unsafe. Officials are unsure what caused the damage.
Repairs are underway, but it is unclear when they will be completed and the building is safe to occupy again. Until then, customers can visit one of the following nearby driver license office locations:
Customers are also reminded some driver license services, such as license renewals, ordering a duplicate license or ID card, and a change of address, are available online on the N.C. DMV website.
