Seniors can enjoy a day of fun and fellowship at the 2019 Senior Fun and Fitness Day on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. This free event will be held at Al Woodall Municipal Park, located at 810 S. 16th Street, Erwin, NC, from 10am-1pm.
The 2019 Senior Fun and Fitness Day will include games and physical activities, tips to stay fit, information on Senior Games, a hot dog lunch, and much more! Participants will have the opportunity to participate in five stations to play pickleball, basketball, cornhole, bocce ball, and a football/softball toss.
Harnett County Parks and Recreation Program Supervisor, Drew Bryant, is encouraging seniors to participate in this year’s event. “All of the games included in the 2019 Senior Fun and Fitness Day are offered as full-scale events as part of the Mid-Carolina Senior Games in April 2020. This event will provide seniors an opportunity to see if they enjoy a particular event. It will also encourage them to participate in the upcoming Senior Games and to continue to stay physically active.”
Participants will receive a free goodie bag and a hot dog lunch.
This special event is sponsored by several local agencies including: Harnett County Parks and Recreation, Harnett County Department of Health-Division on Aging, Erwin Parks and Recreation, and the Dunn Area Tourism Authority. Sherry’s Bakery and Carlie C’s IGA will also be sponsoring breakfast and lunch for the participants.
Interested individuals can register as a participant by contacting Vicky Walden with the Harnett County Division on Aging at 910-814-6074. The deadline to register is Thursday, September 27, 2019.
The event is also offering volunteer opportunities for individuals to assist with preparing lunch and serving as group leaders to support seniors to each activity station. Individuals can contact Drew Bryant at 910-893-7518 to sign up as a volunteer.
