Work First Employment Services

The Work First Program is built upon the premise that all people have a responsibility to their families and community to work and provide for their children.

The focus of the Work First Employment Service staff is on empowering recipients of public assistance benefits to become self-sufficient through employment. The program offers supportive services such as career counseling, financial planning, job readiness training, and job placement services.

Requirements:
Recipients must sign a mutual responsibility agreement detailing their plan for becoming self-sufficient. They must assume responsibility for their families. If recipients do not sign the agreement, their benefits are terminated.

Work:
Benefit recipients are required to enter the workforce, perform volunteer activities, or be involved in short-term job training within 12 weeks of entering the Work First Program.

Self-sufficiency:
Work First assists with the transition into the work force through help with transportation, job search and short-term job training.
