Work First Family Assistance Benefits
Work First Family Assistance provides monthly cash assistance and Medicaid on a short term basis to low-income families with children under 18. Applicants must meet the income and reserve limit to receive benefits. The family has a responsibility to achieve self-sufficiency and return to the local labor market. Employment Services are provided in conjunction with the assistance payments to help recipients become gainfully employed as quickly as possible.
Emergency Assistance benefits provides assistance to families in emergency situations, primarily in the areas of housing and utilities. Assistance can be given within 24 to 48 hours from date of application depending on the family's situation. To be eligible, a family’s countable net income must be at or below 150% of the current poverty level and meet the reserve limit.
Crisis Intervention Program (CIP)
The Crisis Intervention Program is designed to assist low income households in a heating or cooling related crisis. The household's total countable income must be at or below 150% of the current poverty level.
Carolina Power & Light Company's Project Share
The Project Share Program is designed to assist low income households in a heating or cooling related crisis. Project Share is funded 100% from money contributed by CP&L customers, employees and corporate donations. Households must be CP&L residential customers. A household's total countable income must be at or below 150% of the current poverty level.
Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)
This program assists families with a one-time cash payment to help with their heating bills. Families must meet an income criteria, must be responsible for its heating bills, cannot have assets over $2,200.00 and the household must include a US citizen or an eligible alien.
