Upcoming Public Input Opportunities

The Harnett County Board of Commissioners is committed to providing the county’s citizens with opportunities to make their voices heard during the decision-making process. Commissioners offer public input opportunities at various meetings throughout the year. Listed below are the upcoming public hearing and public comment opportunities. 

Public Comment Period

Harnett County Board of Commissioners will hold a public comment period during their regularly scheduled meetings. The public comment period allows for up to 30 minutes for informal comments allowing 3 minutes for each presentation. Please note the Harnett County Board of Commissioners adopted revisions to the Rules of Procedure, Rule 29. Public Comment Period on April 4, 2022. A copy of the rule can be found by clicking here.

Speakers are requested to signup prior to the meeting. Speakers may sign up by contacting the clerk Melissa Capps at mdcapps@harnett.org at least one hour prior to the start of the meeting or by utilizing the signup sheet at the back of the room. The signup form will be picked up by the clerk 5 minutes before the published meeting start time.

During this public comment period, citizens may speak on any issue they wish for three minutes, so long as their comments are respectful of others. The next public comment period will be held during the following meeting:

  • Monday, May 1 at 9:00 AM

The meeting will take place in the Commissioners Meeting Room, located on the second floor of the Harnett County Resource Center & Library. The address is 455 McKinney Parkway, Lillington, NC 27546.

Public Hearings

Public hearings will be held throughout the year to allow citizens to provide input on County intiatives. Listed below are the upcoming public hearing opportunities. Public hearings will take place during the Board of Commissioners regular meeting.

Public Hearings Scheduled for May 1, 2023 Regular Meeting

  • Public Hearing to allow citizens an opportunity to comment on the financing for Benhaven Emergency Services, Inc with the proceeds of certain tax-exempt obligations.
