Harnett County Board of Commissioners held a regular meeting yesterday evening in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the Harnett County Resource Center and Library.
Commissioners kicked off the meeting with unanimously approving several action items in the consent agenda. These action items included:
Following the public comment period, County Commissioners recognized the Harnett Central High School Lady Trojans Varsity Softball Team for their outstanding athletic and academic achievement for the 2022 softball season.
Next, Commissioners opened a public comment period for citizens to address the Board. There were five citizens to provide remarks on various topics.
County Manager Brent Trout then requested the approval of two budget amendments. The request includes an increase in funding for laundry and dry cleaning equipment at the detention center due to a recent fire and an interfund transfer for capital maintenance. Commissioners approved this request.
County Commissioners opened a public hearing regarding proposed amendments to the Harnett County Emergency Services Ambulance Ordinance. There was one citizen to provide remarks. Commissioners voted to approve these proposed amendments.
Commissioners opened a second public hearing for a proposed zoning change from residential to commercial at the intersection of Rawls Church Road and US Hwy 401 North in Hector’s Creek Township. There was one citizen to provide remarks. Commissioners approved this zoning change.
Commissioners opened a final public hearing for a proposed residential zoning change on Neighbors Road in Averasboro Township. There was one citizen to provide remarks. Commissioners approved this zoning change.
Next, Commissioners approved the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 County Budget. This budget will be the spending plan for the County from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023. Interested individuals can view the approved Fiscal Year 2023 budget at harnett.org/budget later this week.
County Manager Brent Trout then provided his County Manager’s report, which included the Veterans Services activity report, Department of Public Health activities summary, and interdepartmental budget amendments.
Last, Commissioners discussed the following new business items.
