Harnett County Public Library is now offering a new technology program and electronic newspaper resources for community members.
Intro to the Internet with Chromebook Program
Harnett County Public Library has been awarded an LSTA Adapting Technology Grant, which allowed Chromebooks to be purchased for citizens to check out. The Library will be hosting an “Intro to the Internet” class that will teach participants about Chromebooks and how they can be used for basic Internet browsing.
“Intro to the Internet” will take place on August 9 at 5:30 p.m. and August 12 at 12:00 p.m. in the Resource Center and Library Training Room, located at 455 McKinney Parkway, Lillington NC. Computer devices will be provided. Experience using a mouse and keyboard is recommended. Registration is required. NewsBank Electronic Newspaper Resources
Harnett County Public Library card holders now have access to the full-color electronic edition of USA Today and the Hispanic Life in America database. USA Today is updated daily and includes issues as far back as 2007. Hispanic Life in America includes comprehensive coverage of the Hispanic American experience from the early 18th century to the present day, including hundreds of Spanish-language newspapers and periodicals. Individuals who are not current Library card holders can sign up for free card by visiting the various library locations in Harnett County or completing an online application at harnett.nccardinal.org/eg/opac/register.
