The expansion of the existing Harnett County Department of Social Services will allow Child Support Enforcement, which is currently housed in rented space in Erwin, to join the rest of Social Services in Lillington. It will also provide additional space for DSS to expand as Harnett County’s population – and the demand for County services – continues to grow.
Additional site improvements will include more parking throughout the campus, increased connectivity between portions of the campus, and a new entrance off of McKinney Parkway that will connect with Alexander Drive. Enhancements will also make the campus more walkable and will include a trail system to connect the campus back to the Harnett County Government Complex Park (currently in development) and eventually to other amenities in the area. The turn lane at the end of McKinney Parkway at U.S. 401 in front of Brightwater will be lengthened to relieve congestion at that intersection.
