Prevention Services

Prevention

Prevention Services are provided to assist families in meeting the needs of children in the home and to prevent abuse and neglect of children. These services are voluntary and consist of the following:

Health Support Services to assist individuals in recognizing health needs, to locate health care resources, and case management to assure continuity of treatment in following health care recommendations.
Problem Pregnancy Services to assist individuals in looking at alternative solutions to unwanted pregnancy (e.g., abortion, adoption, or keeping the baby), and at the possible consequences of each alternative to include assistance in arranging for utilizing other needed services.
At-Risk Case Management Services which include evaluating the client’s situation to determine the need for initial or continuing case management services; assessing the service needs; developing and implementing a service plan to meet the identified needs of the client; assisting the client in locating and contacting providers and programs for needed services and the coordination of delivery of services to the client.
Individual and Family Adjustment Services to enable the individual to cope with problems related to household management, consumer affairs, family life, alcoholism, drug addiction, mental retardation, emotional disturbance, and school related problems. Paraprofessional services may be provided as a component of this service to enhance the functioning of the family unit.
Other Child Welfare Services to protect and promote the welfare of children and strengthen their own homes to prevent the removal of children from their families
Family Support Services to promote the stability of families by strengthening of parenting abilities and enhancing child development.
