Veterans Services is here to assist the veteran and their families with a variety of benefits. Our service officers are accredited with the State of North Carolina and can assist you in filing claims, disagreements and appeals. We also can help you with education benefits, home loan guaranty, ordering records and DD-214's. Our office can sign your MVR-33 requests and the hunting and fishing license. Harnett County will be displaying a Veterans Wall of Heroes at the new Harnett County Resource Center & Library, located at 455 McKinney Parkway, Lillington. The Veterans Wall of Heroes will provide an opportunity to commemorate Harnett County veterans and honor those who received a Medal for Heroism. Individuals who served in any of our 5 military branches are eligible.
Forms will be accepted starting September 1, 2020. All forms can be emailed to Eric Truesdale at etruesdale@harnett.org or mailed to Harnett County Veteran Services, P. O. Box 232, Lillington, NC 27546. Forms can also be dropped off at the Veterans Services Office, located at 817 South 8th Street, Lillington, NC 27546.
To be eligible, individuals must meet the following criteria:
° Medal of Honor
° Silver Star
° Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, Air Force Cross
° Any award with a V or Valor device with the exception of unit awards w/V
° Soldier’s Medal, Airman’s Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Medal, Coast Guard Medal
All Wall of Hereos eligibility forms should include documentation, discharge (DD Form 214), and award citation, if possible.
