Welcome Background:
The Harnett County Airport was opened on October 7, 1981 as a "general utility airport", or an airport that will accomodate substantially all propeller aircraft. On June 26, 2006 the airport officially became Harnett Regional Jetport. The new runway extension to 5,001 feet accomodates corporate business jets, thereby deeming it a "business class airport". The airport is county owned with the Harnett County Board of Commissioners as the ruling body. The Board of Commissioners receive recommendations concerning airport matters from a 9 member advisory committee.
