The objective of the Harnett County Parks and Recreation Department is to provide with the assistance of volunteer community organizations, and other local, state, and federal agencies, a broad and comprehensive program of leisure recreational opportunities and facilities for all citizens regardless of age or disability within budgetary limitations.

Harnett County Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Greenway Plan

Harnett County is working to provide more recreational opportunities for residents and to make Harnett County a more attractive place for prospective residents and businesses. We’re creating a County-wide Bicycle, Pedestrian, & Greenway Master Plan to shape the development of future amenities for walking, cycling and trails in Harnett County!

New Hours for the Boone Trail Community Center & Library

The Boone Trail Community Center & Library has resumed public operations with safety restrictions. To help limit the spread of COVID-19, the community center and library is observing new policies and operating hours.

Effective Monday, July 13, 2020, hours of operation for the Boone Trail Community Center & Library at 8500 Old US 421 in Lillington are:

Monday through Friday: 2:00 - 6:00 PM
Saturday and Sunday: CLOSED

These are the new provisional safety policies and guidelines that are being observed:

  • - As of June 30, 2020, face coverings for patrons are required inside the library building.
  • - Patrons are encouraged to wait 6 feet apart and to avoid close contact with others.
  • - Meeting room is unavailable until further notice.
  • - Staff assistance and interaction may be limited to maintain social distancing.
