The objective of the Harnett County Parks and Recreation Department is to provide with the assistance of volunteer community organizations, and other local, state, and federal agencies, a broad and comprehensive program of leisure recreational opportunities and facilities for all citizens regardless of age or disability within budgetary limitations.

The Harnett County Parks and Recreation main office will be closed Monday, November 11 for Veteran's Day, and will also be closed on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29 for Thanksgiving.

The Boone Trail Community Center & Library will be closed Monday, November 11 for Veteran's Day. Open Gym will not be held.

The Boone Trail Community Center & Library will be closed Thursday, November 28 through Sunday, December 1 for Thanksgiving. Open Gym will not be held during this period.

All other County-owned parks (Anderson Creek Park, Barbecue Creek Park, and Cape Fear River Trail Park) will still be open and operate under their normal hours.

New Program and Rental Registration Portal

Harnett County Parks and Recreation program and rental registration is now electronic! Below are the steps to create your account and register online:

  • Click the link here to reach the Registration Portal
  • Click on “New Account” in the upper right hand corner of the page
  • Fill out the required fields to set up your account

To sign up for programs like Summer Day Camp and Afterschool Care, you can register your children by adding them as “Dependents” under your account profile

  1. To access this, after you login, click “Profile” in the upper right hand corner of the home page and scroll down to the “Relationships/Dependents” section and select “Add”
  2. After completing this, their names/ages will appear for any registrations in a drop down box for selection when selecting a program to add to your cart
  • You are now setup to register for programs through the Portal and can even pay by credit card!
    1. Select “Browse Classes” for program registrations
    2. Select “Browse Facilities” and to initiate a request for a facility rental (picnic shelter, ballfield, etc.)

To request a rental of a facility, field, or shelter:

  1. Select “Browse Facilities” on the main portal page
  2. Select your desired rental date under the “Available Date” section and your desired Location under the “Location” drop down box on the Facility Browse page and hit the green magnifying glass
  3. Find your facility and select “Register” to the right
    1. Please note that for picnic pavilions at Anderson Creek Park and Barbecue Creek Park, you should select the “Hourly” option unless you are planning on booking for an entire day (in which you would select the “Full Day” option)
  4. Select your desired start time and end time at the bottom of the page, enter # of attendees, check the terms and conditions box in the upper right hand corner and select “Add to Cart”
  5. Continue through the process until you receive the option to “Pay Later”; select it
  6. You will receive a copy of your request; Please give our staff approximately three (3) business days to review your request and we will notify you of you approval or denial, and will contact you for payment.
    1. Approved rentals can be paid for by Credit Card over the phone, or under your online profile under the “Invoices” section
    2. Payment by cash or check must be made either in person at our main office during business hours, or by mail to our PO Box (info below)

Santa's Workshop at BTCC & Library
Join us at the Boone Trail Community Center & Library on Monday, December 9 from 6-8 PM for hot chocolate, letters to Santa, and Christmas ornament decorating!
Santa & Mrs. Claus will be in attendance to
interact with children and pose for pictures.

Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee Seats Open
Harnett County Parks and Recreation currently accepting applications for two open positions on the Harnett County Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. The committee represents the interests of the citizens of Harnett County by providing guidance for Harnett County Parks and Recreation in planning for future needs and trends in the area of recreation, as well as for promotion of parks, facilities, and events.
Anyone interested in applying to serve on the committee can visit http://www.harnett.org/parkrec/parks-recreation-advisory-committee.asp for more information and print off an application for submission.
Applications are also available on-site at the main office at 420 McKinney Parkway in Lillington between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Anyone with questions can contact the Harnett County Parks and Recreation office at (910) 893-7518.
