Harnett County to participate in Operation Green Light for Veterans
Monday, October 27, 2025
Harnett County Government will be participating in Operation Green Light for Veterans by illuminating government buildings with green lights from November 4-11, 2025. Operation Green Light for Veterans is a nationwide initiative, spearheaded by the National Association for Counties (NACo), to show support for veterans, raise awareness of the challenges many face, and highlight the resources available to support them.
“I think it is important as we approach Veterans Day this year that we honor and remember the contributions and sacrifices of those that have served our nation in the Armed Forces,” said Harnett County Director of Veterans Services Eric Truesdale. “We can do this from November 4-11 by [putting up] green lights at our homes or businesses.”
NACo first started the initiative in 2021 with more than 450 counties participating in 2024. This marks the initiative’s fifth year.
“Operation Green Light is an opportunity to thank veterans for both their service to our nation and their contributions to our communities,” said NACo Executive Director Matthew Chase. “With hundreds of counties coming together to light up everything from courthouses to bridges, we know veterans will see and feel our gratitude for their selflessness and courage.”
Harnett County invites any interested residents to join the initiative by illuminating a green light bulb outside their residences or businesses from November 4-11, 2025.
