Harnett County Announces Application Process for Low Income Energy Assistance Program

Harnett County Department of Social Services would like to announce the application process for this year’s Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) will be accepted beginning December 10, 2025, for the priority group. The priority group includes those individuals ages 60 and above, and disabled persons receiving services from the Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS).
All other households may apply beginning January 1, 2026, through March 31, 2026, or until LIEAP funds are exhausted.
The agency is closed January 1, 2026, for the New Year Holiday.
Please know, eligible households will not receive the LIEAP check, as the payments will be made directly to the heating provider such as the Electric, Gas, or Fuel Oil Company.
Some households who received a LIEAP payment in 2024-2025 may not need to apply and are eligible to receive an automatic payment. If you are part of this population you should have received an approval notice in November.
