The Planning & Inspections Department includes the following sections: Planning, Central Permitting, and Inspections. Our mission is the preservation and promotion of the quality of life for all residents of Harnett County through proper planning, land use, and construction practices.

Planning regulates and enforces the following for Harnett County: Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, Communication Tower Ordinance, Manufactured Home Park Ordinance, Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance, Water Supply Watershed Management and Protection Ordinance, Historic Preservation Ordinance, and Land Use Plan. The Building Inspections Department enforces North Carolina State Building Codes.
